Bari Weiss’ rebrand of CBS News as “Fox News but way less successful!” is coming along apace.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

Forest canopy.
I captured a "cathedral forest" where the treetops form a golden canopy that envelops everything. In this composition, I wanted the viewer to feel surrounded, almost embraced by the foliage.

Saying ”Grok apologized” is like If I type “YOU’RE A BITCH” into Speak-And-Spell and tell you “Speak-An-Spell says you’re a bitch”
Parker's piece nails why this matters. "Tech companies... would rather not answer for their products’ failures. Every headline that says “Grok apologizes” or “Grok admits” or “Grok says” creates a world where the chatbot takes the fall while Musk and his executives face no scrutiny whatsoever."
I wrote about Grok's CSAM problem and how journalists keep fumbling the story

Aside from the fact that this is grossly insipid and jingoistic, it's also schlocky writing.

If you've written "Franklin's famous line,"* you're signaling, loudly, that you have nothing to say worth listening to.

*Also, it was a remark; "line" rather implies that it's something he wrote.

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”
But can anyone tell me what this bit means? “For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty.”
