Less chuntering, more action these days
there you go, that's what I was trying to word. Saved me the editing.
All kinds of reasons Davie should have resigned before, but one whiff of anti-right-wing scandal and off he pops.

I'm tempted to suggest that compliance (in whatever sense you choose) might have exceeded its usefulness when every piece of training kit on Strictly is adorned with a poppy.

just idly and hypothetically wondering, how many football clubs in the world could appoint their country's most successful national coach ever and get a chorus of disapproval from the fan base

Morning. Anyone know who the Boro manager is for today's game? Feels like a thing that should be sorted before kick off maybe.

I think on balance Rob Edwards would be daft not to take the Wolves job if he's offered it.

I’d add: if press and politicians were this happy to make bright red, roasting-faced fannies of themselves over football - a topic the public understands far better than they do - then should we conclude that they’ve been reliably honest about other, more complex matters.
It’s genuinely incredible to see politician, media figures and activists utterly humiliating themselves in front of a public who well understand what football hooligans are, how football matches are policed and how the press has always talked about football fans.

Why do they have to do this every time a team wins a couple of games?

the best bit is that there is a sizeable faction within "the left" that is prepared to say "well Plaid is a nationalist party too, they're all the same"
Poor take by Curtice.
This is a disaster for Farage. Polls had RefUK closely winning. Losing by 11% signposts Plaid to all of Wales as THE tactical choice for Senedd Elex and drains RefUK momentum.
"Something is happening out there", alright. People are uniting to tell Farage to feck right off.

Prof John Curtice also calling it a great night for Reform too & focusing on Lab vote collapse instead of the turnout + tactical vote

Jonn is doing the shouting that the rest of us should be doing. Genuinely one of the bravest journalists currently writing.
"The idea of deporting people with settled status is disgusting, and anyone proposing it should be immediately drummed out of polite society. Breaking promises made in good faith to our friends and neighbours is racist, extremist and immoral."
I'm basically shouting at the sky here, but still.

It’s racist, it’s extremist and it’s immoral
The right is still calling for deportations, and the government is still being cowardly about it. Also: London’s first green belt; some notes on a shark; and some news, on my next book.

#Boro seek improvement in attack above all else. Interestingly, Rob Edwards is yet to name the same three attackers in consecutive games.

Great read. Don’t stop, because we need more Gary Nevilles and more journalists opposing the far right public discourse, as the likes of Orwell showed almost a century ago
I liked Gary Neville’s speech even though he fucked up part of it

Flag alert! Gary Neville may not be Orwell but he is a very English type of patriot | Barney Ronay
An easy target for accusations of luxury hypocrisy, Neville has at least tried to address an issue that has everything to do with aggressively flag-draped and militarised modern sport

it feels like something has happened to the pricing of "hospitality" food and drink in the last year or so that exceeds previous moves. No data, just vibes that the number of times I've gone "that's ridiculous" is up a lot.
This is possibly a new personal worst for a Diet Coke sold in a can. Benugo in St James’s Park in London. £3.25!

the defining question of at least the last 15 years of UK politics
What’s worse: If they understand very well and are pretending they don’t, or if they are 4 Real too stupid to work it out? I don’t know, but the effect is the same.

Abysmal shit but again, this is just a much more crass and blunt version of the type of stuff you would’ve heard being expressed more obliquely five years ago, ten years ago. The move has been from I’m Not Racist But to Yes I Am Racist, And.
