What’s hard in today’s world is that as more and more of your friends and family have to deal with more difficulties in their life (job, expenses, medical, etc), you have less capacity in your support network to help. Who wants to bother someone when they are also stressed? And so you feel alone…

Rural US is about to get much sicker 🤒
Immigrants make up ~quarter of the country's doctors. In rural communities, in primary care & specialties like oncology, foreign-born doctors account for ~ HALF of the workforce. other countries are taking advantage by promising stable grant funding abroad.
Deeply upsetting but not surprising:

“policies defunding everything from scientific research to public health have damaged the U.S.'s reputation to the point where she hears from hospitals and universities that top international talent are no longer interested in coming to America” 🧪
'Nobody wants to come': What if the U.S. can no longer attract immigrant physicians?
Immigrants make up a significant proportion of all the country's doctors. New policies are making it harder and less appealing for foreign-born physicians to come to the U.S.

In addition to this excellent point, it is also a travesty that this much meat will go to waste with the number of people who are hungry in this world.
Turkeys are flavorless and dry, and they want to live. This Thanksgiving, @mbolotnikova.bsky.social encourages you to challenge the status quo and embrace plant-based alternatives, have conversations about ethical food choices, and create more sustainable and compassionate traditions.
8 million turkeys will be thrown in the trash this Thanksgiving
We don’t have to accept all that death and waste for a dry, flavorless bird no one likes.

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Every year I gather all my Thanksgiving recipes & make new shopping & timing lists for dinner. But I finally put it in a single doc that I can just use annually. If you want access, let me know. Here’s the menu:
Roast turkey w/ garlic herb butter
Mashed potatoes & gravy
Green bean casserole
Etc…
