I'm white, I'm not going to tell someone who isn't that they need to be quiet on issues of race. I've also seen such phrases used to trivialize trans and disabled people, so I'm inclined to believe her more. I'm not worried about party leaders, or politicians, rather those their words tend to hurt.

When she sees potential harm to her people, she's supposed to be quiet for the sake of the party? Indigenous people shouldn't be told to shut up for the sake of any aspect of the government system that attempted to erase them. These colonial systems need to go and your stance upholds them.

When Indigenous people say "this has been used to hurt me" I'm inclined to believe them, especially when it's in keeping with how she's been using her voice for years. You honestly can't see people using that phrase used to dismiss racism? "Oh, they're just a little racist, not everyone is perfect."
