Since it doesn't exist may I suggest the hashtags #askAuDHD or #askingAuDHD for Autistic people who also have ADHD (AuDHD), those who suspect they might be #AuDHD or those who wish to understand AuDHD?
I loathe when that happens. Even more upsetting is when they hit with "we're only human" type of response! We KNOW but it's still important to do y'all's job. Folks need their meds. Authorize it darnit! 😭 I hope you can find a healthy outlet in the meantime and/or have an alternative to your meds 🩷
It's unfortunate. I'll scroll and sporadically come across comments like "your low IQ" and be baffled by the irony.
Historically, IQ test scores have been weaponized to support discriminatory ideologies, control marginalized communities, and reinforce social hierarchies. Although, IQ tests were initially intended for educational support, they were/are widely misused to advance political and social agendas.
IQ tests might identify an area or multiples where someone might not excel but there might be other areas they do. Too many people weaponize IQ scores when the true measure of intelligence extends far beyond a single test score.
Exactly 🎯
I’ve had people be like don’t tell em you’re mentally ill, they’re coming after mentally ill people. Oh you think? But my madness is no secret & I can’t help being who I am, & expect I have a pulse on my threats better than people who don’t have the threats. That’s like saying, try not to be Black!

Steph?! Queue up Anita Baker 😭😂
Oh okay. Life changing can alter our perspective.
Okay. There's at least that. 🙂
Tylenol was introduced in 1955.

All of that to state: the math just ain't mathin' y'all!
The term "autism" was coined in 1911. The initial work describing autistic traits was published in 1925. The first diagnosed Autistic was Donald Triplett (born in 1933–2023). He was observed circa 1938 by Dr. Leo Kanner who published his findings in 1943. Acetaminophen was FDA approved in 1951.
It's important that when we share historic events that we get them as close to accurate as possible so we're not unintentionally spreading misinformation.
A significant portion of her work remained in Russian and German for decades. An English translation of her key 1926 paper wasn't available until 1996. Even to this day, Dr. Sukhareva's pioneer work still goes uncredited. That needs to change.
¹Grunya Sukhareva's pioneering research was published in both Russian and German. Her initial work describing autistic traits was published in a Russian-language journal in 1925, followed by a German translation of the article in 1926.
Autism was Grunya Sukhareva. Although when she made the distinction, she referred to it as schizoid psychopathy before later referring to it as autistic psychopathy. Her research was published in 1925 + a part 2 in 1926¹. In the US, the first clinician to diagnose autism was Dr. Leo Kanner in 1943.
Actually Autism wasn't diagnosed in 1911. That's when it was coined by Eugene Bleuler and it was thought to be a state of severe self-absorption and withdrawal into one's inner world, a symptom he observed in people with schizophrenia. The first person to make the distinction between schizophrenia+

Don’t take medical advice from the President.

And vote out every single Senator who is responsible for RFK Jr. leading our Department of Health.
The way RFK Jr and Co are going after Autism reminds me of the cartoonish way J. Jonah Jameson goes outta his way to attack Spider-Man. At least in the latter case there's entertainment. Nothing entertaining about the former. It's dangerous.

Protect Autistic children! ✊🏾

Yes, follow the money. 🎯
I kinda suspected it wasn't just a one-off. Instead of them asking you, maybe try asking them what it is they need. Maybe you've done that and maybe they've lied, that's besides the point. You still gave what you could. If it was truly from the heart that mattered.
My point was to not give up on them. If it were you I'm sure you'd not want passerbys to give up on you. Obviously I cannot nor am I telling you what to do but I'd encourage you to continue helping in any way that you can.

It may be small, but a library card packs a mighty punch! In addition to books, you may be able to borrow museum passes, musical instruments, and even cooking equipment from your library’s collection. It’s one card with endless possibilities!
While creating more of them in the process.
