Interestingly, you've perfectly illustrated the difference between Social Democrats and many socialists. There's a struggle to view economics outside this false binary of almost completely unregulated capitalism and government running most of the market.

Modern day concentration camps.
The government says the people being deported are violent criminals, and they treat them inhumanely. But mostly they are subjecting ordinary people to extraordinary punishments.

I didn't know my second son needed it that much, until I realized how he was suppressing who he is to gain the approval of kids who dislike him for being smart, as someone from a group they don't think should be smart.

I'm excited for my second son to go to that school and participate in the black student organization.
He's often been the only black child in his "gifted" classes, and he doesn't really know how to navigate the racism when he's by himself.
Parents can only do so much from afar.

If you only read the opinion journalism in elite media over the last decade, you would have been convinced that wokeness, and not fascism, were the greatest threats to American society. Now some of those authors are retconning by trying to relabel fascism as "the woke right."
Years from now, it'll be difficult to explain the things people in media were wailing about before all this. Sophomores writing underconsidered op-eds about cultural appropriation. Protests against demagogues on campus. YA drama. "Mobs" on Twitter. These were the threats to free society.

Conservatives usually strongly defend the 2nd amendment, and we'll see how many of them are willing to defend their supposed principles now with Trump attacking it.
