We need new books and new-book shops. We need to fund the creation of new works that add joy and interest and interpretation to our lives.

But we also need the beautiful, the old, the strange, the different, and the already-loved and affordable.

There's a shop for that 📚❤️

Communities need used-book shops.

As the trends in our world are increasingly standardized and entrenched by "predictive" technologies that stifle innovation and reduce human actions into economic categories...

We need a full range of possibilities for readers and communities to explore and share.

HEY, if you're working on your first novel and you're home for Thanksgiving, do NOT tell people what it's about. Make up a decoy novel (Psychic nun who fights crime with martial arts!) and let them be condescending about that one instead.

I've had too many students' novels "ruined" over holidays.

About 40% of SNAP recipients are children. Around half of ALL children in the country are covered by Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

And the so-called “party of family values” gutted both programs by billions of dollars.

Doesn’t sound very pro-family to me.

Soup tastes better when you are eating it out of your most beloved bowl. Coffee or tea taste better when you are drinking them from your most cherished mug. A book is more captivating when you’re reading it in your preferred chair.

Denying these facts is akin to denying science itself.
