If you can’t get the news from the news then they’re not really the news are they
if the president does something so awful it would be indecent to describe and ask about then you very obviously need to describe and ask about it, thats the entire job

No kid should ever have to protest or advocate for their friends’ basic humanity.

But they’re standing up at No Kings anyway.

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

My job as a citizen is to know what's going on around me, so that I can be an informed voter. Isn't it this guy's job to know (and do) things in order to get those votes?

(I know, I know. It's infuriating regardless.)
My mother inexplicably took me to see Cujo, in the movie theatre, when I was NINE.
Absofuckinglutely 1000000% this
My feeling is that the most important opportunity for the 2026 midterms is not flipping Congress to the Dems, but flipping the Dems to an actual opposition party.

I feel like “I study history” is one of those classic dumb guy phrases that 99% of the time comes before the dumbest fucking thing you’ve ever heard
I went to a Christian Science elementary school (long story) and every morning during chapel there was a mix of hymns and patriotic songs. "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" always got the most rousing bursts of singing. Real crowd-pleasers for 7-12 year olds!

Late 90s, I crashed at a friend's place in Red Hook, Brooklyn, & my car got broken into, window smashed, in an attempt to get my car radio. When that failed they grabbed the 2 CDs in my center caddy. AND it had rained! So a soaked interior & broken window, all for Yo La Tengo & Beastie Boys cds.
What meaningless thing/experience are you still mad about? Like it should not matter at all, DOES not matter at all. But you’re still MAD.

And how long has it been?

I bought some bagels at Hy-Vee four years ago. So bad. Too big. Hard. Bland. WORTHLESS.

I’m still FURIOUS.
Lloyd Dobbler went duster-adjacent, with resounding success! (The boombox bit tho, yikes.)

Our senior dog is living his best life, snoring and farting all day long. His little sister, the boss lady of the family, would like a word about the farts.

my therapist: sometimes you simply have to experience an emotion instead of thinking about it
me, nodding sagely: and then it goes away
therapist: well not necessarily
me, shaking my head furiously: no, I don't like that
Me: I just don't understand why I can't just out-think my anxiety and emotions and simply react and respond in the most ideal way every single time and never feel bad
My therapist of eight years: *audibly loading gun*
I sunk cost fallacied my way to reading the entire thing, a not insignificant amount of time lost to a book I truly disliked.
