A new episode of the Medici Podcast! Ferdinando II had high hopes that marrying his introverted, overly devout son to a French princess would both loosen his son up and save the dynasty from extinction. Things wouldn’t turn out quite like he wanted.

Good move on Schumer's part, we're coming dangerously close to a situation where the voters are enthusiastic about a Democratic politician.
Schumer won’t say he’ll vote for the Democratic candidate — primary was 124 days ago
God it's like the reverse of "Just because your friend thinks homosexuality is a mental illness doesn't mean you should cut them out of your life just because of politics."
Plus RTD just arbitrarily slapping in classic characters who aren't the Daleks/the Master (and even there was the Master as a misogynist out of the blue). I wanted The Rani back for years and Panjabi was great but making her scheme depend on magic and gods? And don't get me started on Omega...
The IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY episode "Frank's Back in Business" is one of the best commentaries on that state of affairs out there, and I'm including academic studies in that.

Watching the gigantic corporations that dominate our economy become increasingly disconnected from such basic concepts as "we should make products people want to buy" and "making money is a good idea" is slowly driving me insane
Tonight's movie is WE ARE STILL HERE with Barbara Crampton!
Especially as an American in this moment I do mean it when I say I'm happy for you.

Clearing up those "had a stroke" rumors with some impeccable StrokePosting™. Masterful gambit sir!
I saw the headline for an article about a woman speaking out against a teacher for grooming her "although he hasn't been complaining evicted" and, sure enough, it came from CBS News under the Bari Weiss regime.
Is Jeff Bezos going out into space again anytime soon?

We are literally ruled over by a Brothers Grimm goblin king who will do anything for a gold object
Reminds me of when the Roman Senate showered Caesar with honors to make him look worse...
Tonight's movie is NIGHT OF TERROR from 1933!

Trump: They're spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric, the problem when it breaks you have to send up to MIT, get the most brilliant people in the world to fix it, the steam you can fix it with a hammer and a blowtorch, it works just as well if not better and I love the sight of steam
Maybe I'm not jared enough but it does astonish me nobody in the GOP or the regime is saying, "Guys, maybe cutting off all food aid on the month of Thanksgiving while Trump is building a golden ballroom isn't the best look?"

I think any story about Trump's autocracy should be mostly about the people and institutions who failed to stop it. This guy isn't a political genius, everything else just happens to be rotten. 'Toddler Consolidates Power In Household' is a story about incompetent parents, not shrewd maneuvering
"We can unilaterally tear down the White House and fire your relatives who work for the government for no reason but we can't save you from starving even though there's a fund specifically for this circumstance, sorry."
There is a possibility enough people with influence will let the paradigms shift but a lot of politicians and pundits are already gearing up to double down on restoring the pre-Trump ancien regime and dismiss even Biden as too "woke."
The fact anti-Trump squishy center-right people are still dismissing even the moderate social democratic proposals of Mamdani as "dorm room discussions" is one of the reasons I'm still worried what comes after even if we get through Trump mostly intact.
Almost forgot! Tonight's movie was FROM BEYOND, which also represents me cheating on my own rules because it's a movie I've watched fairly recently (and is one of my faves).
Boomers are objectively the worst generation in all of U.S. history. Sorry, but there's been multiple peer-reviewed studies.
I'm really tempted to believe he just wants to make everyone pay for losing the 2020 election and getting labelled a felon.
"Think things are bad now? It'll get worse" is just the motto of Trump 2.0, I think.
