Mark it on your calendar. I'm on vacation at a music festival that day, but I'm going to find a local protest and join it wherever I am. You can too. No excuses. I'll be using a wheelchair. Show them we are many, we are strong, and we say "NO!" Soon protests won't be an option. Do it while you can.

The America we used to live in—the America we want to think we live in—is gone.

We’ll have to build again.

We want to think that the repeated, widespread abuse of basic rights by DHS; the DOJ actions against former officials like James Comey and John Bolton; the presence of 2020 election deniers across congressional and executive branch leaders; the unconstitutional dismantling of federal agencies; the consolidation of old and new media under leadership favorable to Trump; the use of lawsuits and executive branch power to intimidate and silence critics; and the clear attempts to subvert the 2026 and 2028 elections; and Trump's constant insinuation that he might seek a third term do not all in fact mean
that we have crossed the threshold into a competitive authoritarian environment.
But we have. We have passed through the veil. Whatever becomes of American liberal democracy in the near or distant future, it will be a resurrection and not a continuation.

Local law enforcement kinda has the same discernment issue, I am thinking. How do they tell them apart? By the skilled professional behavior? Can a cop demand they identify themselves?

We need to do more than show up, we need to show up smart.

You don't need any sign, much less a fancy, clever sign.

And btw, the best signs are the ones you wrote with a sharpie on a piece of cardboard. Organic, real, and they defy claims that they (or you) were paid for by George Soros, etc.

The funniest thing to me was that they were only on the first step. They could have easily just gone up the working ones on either side. Way to adapt and conquer, Pres. Moron. Melania went right up to make him accidentally exercise. If he didn’t follow he would have looked weak. Bet she was smiling.

I love a creative metric. Back when I cleaned houses for a living, I looked at all purchases through the lens of "How many toilets?" At the rate of 3 toilets per $50 house... (this was in the 80s).

I'm making a needle-felted monarch butterfly caterpillar, and it's going so so, but pretty good given that I'm new to the craft. It's better than my attempt at a tiny box turtle. I mean...claws out of wool? Impossible!

In case, like me, you search the web using Duck Duck Go, you should know that their AI is useless. Not only is it not trained past mid-2022, it claims to look up real-time information, but it does not. It insists that Biden is POTUS, Charlie Kirk is alive, and the links I provided are "fictional."
