like you're a japanese POW in the Pacific and you get a look at the US Navy ship that literally does nothing but make ice cream
since we're talking about pies- one of my favorite internet traditions is r/costco every year, without fail, featuring multiple top-of-page posts of people completely agog at the scale of the costco pumpkin pie display. it must feel like walking onto a sherman tank factory floor in 1944

men's basketball matchups that would be a million times better as men's hockey matchups
good evening from the Bryce Jordan Center, where Penn State (5-1) faces Boston U (3-3) in non-conference action. the Nittany Lions are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the year against the Terriers. tip is 7 p.m. on NBCSN/Peacock. Penn State is favored by 14.5.

if you post about TV ratings numbers while having zero stake in them, someone should come to your door and give you an atomic wedgie
The viewership for Chiefs-Cowboys will have no effect on your life.

related, one of my favorite stories from her childhood that my wife tells is that she signed up for the Brownies because she thought they were going to make literal brownies, and when they didn't and made birdhouses instead, she never went back.
i did 3 years of cub scouts basically bc of inertia. none of us did anything remotely scout-ish, we just fucked around in a church rec room and played soccer on saturday mornings. meanwhile i‘m guessing if a cis girl joins BSA it’s because she, like, wants to learn how to light fires and tie knots

It's funny how this isn't identifiable as a Conservative Opinion but is absolutely the sort of thing that runs on conservative opinion pages. An even split between "the traffic is so bad now" and "Mr. Trump, please exterminate the brutes." A perfectly American intellectual movement in that sense.
At this point, the Washpost edit page is just trolling its readers.

This is today's actual house editorial.

Some more fuel for speculation. This is probably a nature v nurture thing. Sourdif landed in a real nice spot between the beefsters, but instead of just coasting with the titans he’s actively contributing. A very pleasant surprise

My son is taking a world economic geography class and this morning he asked me what my thoughts were on NAFTA back when it was being debated and passed vs. now. I wrote him a novel in response, but Christ, thinking of that as the sort of history about which it's worth asking The Ancient Ones hurts.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

25 Nov 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- In unusual move, Sen Susan Collins (R-ME) signs petition for referendum on the 2026 ballot that would bar trans students from sports teams, locker-rooms and bathrooms. She's in a hotly contested election & this is pbly one way to increase Rep turnout.
