A couple of years ago I walked out of the store with a small container of walnuts for the parking lot squirrel. I saw the squirrel sitting motionless on the limb of an oak tree, with a Cooper's hawk perched 2 feet from it. I threw the nuts over the hawk, it flew away, and my rodent friend was free.

One of my favorite film anecdotes is that Rick Baker, who did the phenomenal makeup effects for “An American Werewolf in London” and Rob Bottin, who did the equally phenomenal makeup effects for "The Howling", were helping each other on their competing projects.
