This nicely sums up my position as well.

My moral allegiance is also to the people in my country being cruelly rounded up and deported without due process, some dying in the process and most leaving anguished and traumatized family and friends, and I have similar sentiments for my regime.
For clarity: my moral allegiance in this moment of such enormous suffering is to the PEOPLE of Israel, Gaza, and Iran.

The REGIMES of those places—Hamas militants, the Netanyahu administration and its IDF and “settler” agents; the Iranian regime—can go to hell, the lot of them.

I can’t help but think that the erosion of the rule of law and the sense of impunity with which these motherfuckers murder fishermen and enrich themselves had some genesis in Obama’s decision to give a free pass to the torturers, finance scammers, and war profiteers of the Bush era.

Today is 105 year anniversary of Ocoee Election Day Massacre. On 11/2/1920 a white mob murdered 30 Black people, & burned 25 Black owned homes & Black churches—all b/c Black people dared exercise the right to vote

Ocoee's entire Black community was exiled. No Black American moved back in until 1980

The Republicans have been promising a specific plan as an alternative to Obamacare ever since it passed in 2010. The promise is 15 1/2 years old now. That's probably why they don't seem very sincerely interested in it.

But not open carry of banned books.
Wait until they find out about Andres Serrano. 🤦‍♂️ Look, it’s art, it isn’t disrespectful, it’s just a way to keep an important issue in play.
Suzanne Romero has been lobbying the city to address the unsanctioned mural for more than a year along with a small group of other Catholic residents. In a lawsuit recently filed in the First Judicial District Court, Romero accuses the city of withholding documents about the mural’s creation.

Several Hispanic groups are calling for the mural of the Virgin Mary in the Railyard to be removed, describing it as disrespectful to Catholics.

No grab bars, so here’s hoping he actually uses it instead of letting Kristi Noem go in there to drown a puppy or something
Extraordinarily clear and concise summary of the GOP government shutdown. It kills me that broadcast and print journalists by and large are incapable of this sort of exposition. Whoever the journalist is who asked that question, they definitely got their ass politely handed to them.
Thank you Congressman Neguse for laying it plain.
Bill Belichick might be interested…
Ironic that the “@#$% your feelings” crowd wants us to accept their feelings. And yes, Vance is a shitbird.
I would rather live next door to someone who speaks another language than live next door to someone who doesn’t want to live near people who speak other languages. I know nothing about Person A but I know person B is a shitbird.
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do
We really should be doing the same thing in the state house and governor’s mansion.
It’s “Memento” 🤦‍♂️
Zero energy is all well and good, but how are those buildings going to withstand a 25 foot storm surge?

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.
I’m in a particularly cynical mood today, so what this thread tells me is that when the Democrats finally cave to the GOP, we’re well and truly fucked. I hope I’m wrong.
1. Before the No Kings demonstrations two weekends ago, I suggested that the shutdown of the government would look different afterward.
Wasting money that could have been spent on childcare and free meals. But mention things like that to an anti-abortionist (they are not “pro-life” by any stretch of the imagination) and they recoil at the thought of helping neighbors and lifting everyone up.
This could have been our president. Instead, we have the parts that didn’t make it into the sausage. 😐

I dunno… charter schools steal funds from public schools, so maybe this isn’t as bad as it seems? 😉

You still want to believe the political fuel that powers the American collapse into authoritarianism isn't the deep, abiding resentment of white men who pine for an America that sees and services only them? Gaze upon Leni Riefenstahl's recent work for Donald Trump's U.S. Department of Labor.
I made an image of all the art posted by US DOL on X since approximately Labor Day
This was quite good, thanks for posting it.
