Still 1,5kg heavier than I should be, but I can probably shift 1kg perfectly healthily by race day.

So: just a matter of keeping injury-free and germ-free for the next couple of weeks and enjoying the taper!

Monday 10k recovery.
Wednesday was fairly gentle: 13k with 25 minutes at race pace in the middle.
Friday tougher: 15k with 5 x 1k intervals at maximum speed (3’45”/k) in the middle
Today: 18k with 45 minutes at race pace in the middle.

Feeling quite fit; old injuries not reasserting themselves.

Two weeks to go to the #Lisbon half marathon!
This last week was peak load week, and wasn’t the toughest that coach Kris has ever given me, but on the other hand tough enough to make me yearn for the taper to begin. 55k overall and a 2k swim.

Because they were hoping for Trump obviously

Only if you’re far right. Which you’re not, obviously.

Oh, dearest AI: please never change. This is unimprovable, especially the censorship of “gay bar”  into “restaurant”. And why has an article become “a speech”?

Same….
And an autumnal Sunday afternoon is the perfect moment for it.

Next week is peak load, which always sounds a bit rude, and then we taper….

This week I had a 10k gentle run on Monday; a 75 minute session with 5x 800m intervals at maximum speed in the middle on Wednesday; threshold trading on Friday and an 80 minute run today of which 30 minutes in the middle at race pace (4’15”-4’20”).

And the hated Saturday swim. 🤣

So, in #running news, after a summer of seemingly constant injury, I’ve managed 7 weeks of fairly serious training and have my next race in my sights. Just three weeks to the Lisbon half marathon!

I am not as fit as I was in the spring when I did a PB in Zürich but I’m looking for a good run.

I can never hear the ending of that Gorecki Totus Tuus (just on BBC Radio 3) without also hearing the introductory bars of Bernstein’s Maria from West Side Story.

It improves the Gorecki enormously once you hear it, and you will never be able to unhear it now 😆🎶

Thirty years ago to the day… I became a probationary EU civil servant and began a professional life mainly here in Brussels, but also 4 years in Kosovo, 4 years in Palestine and a year in Athens, which has been a remarkable journey and a fantastic opportunity to work for the people of Europe 🇪🇺

Surely someone can quietly go in an amend that to ”pizza”?

Or, 'why would we need telephones thing when we have plenty of messenger boys'.

But... cars of any sort ruin cities. In rural areas? Driverless cars have real potential for our ageing rural populations. But most of them will be dead before the tech is ready.

Yes, but we need all that ingenuity and investment to go into things that are relevant in a European context, not ones that were designed to solve American problems.
I want the hover boots that were distinctly promised me in the late 60s and we need ironing machines.
