The biggest thing that’s harder to ignore imo is that these Senate Dems just helped vindicate and make real the fake right wing narrative that it was a “Dem shutdown” when we’ve been stating and restating the reality that Republicans had the power to end this at any time.

This is not the first time we've seen federal agents direct chemical agents indiscriminately at members of the public in Chicago. Not at people attacking them or even protestors, just people going on with their day.

Doesn't matter. They were taking the blame. There was going to be chaos with travel over the holidays and it was going to be their fault. That was the move. Dems were fighting to preserve healthcare. That's the strength of their brand. It all fit. Dems just didn't have the stomach for it.

Sincere question: does anybody have any evidence that the GOP/WH would have eventually folded and extended the ACA subsidies if the shutdown continued?
I haven’t seen any. The President didn’t seem to feeling any pressure. No GOP Senator AFAIK expressed any concern. (Some Reps did)
