Any FinTwit refugees have good recommendations for how to invest going forward if securities regulations won’t be enforced and federal spending is going to be primarily directed towards friends of the kleptocracy?
Obvious answer: the two pro-kleptocracy stocks (on a tear), but I can’t support them.

The fun part about this is that neither Halligan nor Trump has any idea how the criminal justice system works.

I think we can agree it’s all corrupt and wrong.

Purloining from my replies: It’s all an extension of “we understand that there is systematic regulatory, legal and governance erosion happening but I don’t think it will impact MY asset class”

Seriously, I’m a bond guy deep down but we gotta know when we’re reaching for “there’s got to be another leg to this trade”

Thiel going completely insane so publicly is so gauche. At least Howard Hughes had the dignity to become a shut-in.

I think Hunter actually had a board position on Amtrak at some point? I thought that was wrong but this Trump kid doesn’t even have the most basic credentials and his presence will (hopefully) drive a lot of their core users away.

…but it DOES have the integrity and follow through of the president of the United States…isn’t that what they wanted?

Wait you think retail traders acting as bag holders for meme stocks will help the gen pop?

Husband really wanted to see it but is now leaning towards skipping it after reading that Disney is directing ad spend to Musk enterprises.

Witkoff appears to be a key player in the Trump family’s grift and shakedown operations.

Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of money to build Trump’s Soviet size ballroom and plan for a UFC cage match.

“If you’re making people feel bad [about extreme corruption, military occupation of our cities, or minorities deported to concentration camps without due process], you’re part of the problem” — Tyler Cowan, in a piece lamenting that we can’t punish influencers for sharing bad news like China does.
jenonymous.bsky.social
Tyler Cowen wants you to do your part to stop Americans from learning about what’s happening in America and reacting appropriately.

I assume he will also cheer as China’s dystopian censorship apparatus continues to roll out here.

Gee, I can’t imagine why scientists don’t want to come live in an authoritarian country ruled by a madman.

Wait, is this a real costume I can buy?

Can’t risk seating the new member and letting Americans learn what’s in the Epstein files.

“Before retail was scoffed at. Now we’re a huge voice in how markets work.”

Yes, we know—that’s how we got $TSLA with a P/E ratio above 200 (even as its earnings shrink), crypto bubble 2.0, and the entire meme stock craze.

(We’re still scoffing, but we have to adapt to the fools rushing in.)

Putting aside what appears to be a looming dead end for AI (in terms of profitability, if not technologically)— it’s hard for me to imagine how Meta does well longer term if a deluge of AI slop and censorship makes more and more educated Americans leave social media entirely.

I agree with what you’re saying BUT that was back before massive numbers of GOP election officials embraced dishonesty and outright fraud if it was what it takes to re-elect Trump. If a few red districts in red-purple states are all onboard with cheating, should be easy to accomplish.
jenonymous.bsky.social
This suggests to me that GOP leaders (and their tycoon media owner friends) expect to be able to pin the suffering on Democrats.

Pro-democracy voices need to be very clear that Trump is finding money to remodel his private jet, bail out Argentina, + build a Soviet-style ballroom but not pay troops.
