I was an adult who worked in tech in the 80s. They were absolutely called floppies, especially in the beginning. They were never called hard disks. I will note that the media itself (as opposed to the case) remained flexible in 3.5" diskettes.

I don't see how Mamdani is cornered. Trump has zero attention span and a very short list of policies he cares about personally. It's still a net win if Mamdani ends up being just another mayor Trump doesn't like because of sanctuary city policies (not unilaterally determined by the mayor).

Horseshoe theory is dumb, but Mamdani has an advantage in being to the left of the Democratic establishment. He's not a toe-the-line Democratic party politician. There's very little policy Trump cares about personally, but he does care if you're with or beholden to his perceived enemies.

Great example. I agree. In many ways, his work feels like what you would get if the French New Wave happened *now* and was influenced by the past 50-70 years of film. He has a huge talent for the language of film and the unusual ability to make it that language visible without being clumsy.

I’m not a journalist or campaign finance guy to start digging this stuff up, but at this point I’d be pretty surprised if he hadn’t been actively recruited for the race by some MAGA-aligned org and had his first ad funded and produced by the same. He didn’t self-fund that slick production.
