Creative for hire since late 1987 who never specialised. Co-creator of Armalyte, Ruff n Tumble & more; 3d & pixel art, music, & game design. Current dev: Armalyte Ultra. I also paint. Same username elsewhere.
I missed this was happening. Good god that’s a worse rebrand than Zavvi. There was a time when Smiths supplied my art gear, games, mags, books, music, et-fucking-cetera. End of an era.
For a commission representing computer mags, I dug into the experience of browsing the shelves at Smiths for this

I loved Halt and Catch Fire!
Can folks do me a favor?

I was on Bluesky early & it was great. Mostly. I hit the eject button in January.

I came back, many colleagues are here, but still don’t know I am.

I co-created Halt and Catch Fire. I write TV & comics.

Here’s two favorite set photos.

Repost? I am in the wilderness.

Acrylic on plywood: A4 size.
Finally “finished” though I am not happy with the lighting, forms or the reflections. Leaving as-is as a reminder to do better reference and preparation.
Nice to do something that isn’t a portrait or a landscape though. Good to get back into it after a 6 month pause.

Have an ULTRA Happy New Year!
While the bigwigs at the Armalyte Corporation are busy ringing in the New Year, the resistance has managed to obtain some classified intel relating to Armalyte Ultra.

Happy New Year!

Sorry haven’t posted much. Have been on a city break to Glasgow to check out galleries and soak up a little Scottish history. I have a few weeks of gift painting to do then finish of the year getting back to Armalyte Ultra.

Not to worry though. Personal creative seismic shifts notwithstanding, I am back on Armalyte:Ultra design next month after I lost all heart following my mum’s passing around this time last year.
And it’s shaping up to being rather special.

So, looks like this is what I’ll be spending most of my time doing now till I eventually kark it.

What’s nice is that after 35+ years of making “data” that other companies and individuals profit from, that I often did not get fair compensated for, I’ve started making one-of-a-kind *physical objects* that others may or may not cherish.
Look at these little fellas: they’re someone’s *babies*

Since the advent of the popular use of genAI and generally feeling “too old for this shit” I learned to paint earlier this year. Turned out working with wet media wasn’t as nasty as I thought.
This was my first painting that ended up winning “best in show” at a local exhibition.
