There are more trees on earth right now than there are stars in the entire local group of galaxies (Milky Way, Andromeda, Triangulum, etc) COMBINED.
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

On today's trans day of remembrance, we mourn the loss of Bill Maher, who was transformed directly into a corncob by @pattonoswalt.bsky.social.

Well. I say "mourn"...
PATTON OSWALT: These people are scared. They're being targeted. We're watching them be targeted right now. We're watching transgender people be targeted in a very aggressive way, so—

BILL MAHER: We are? Where?

OSWALT: Oh my god.

MAHER: Where are they being targeted?

trans day of remembrance sucks because we’re the only ones who ever give a shit about it. if cis people took it as a day to go “wow through our callous disregard for the safety of trans people we sure did kill a lot of trannies” every year that might be worth something but we don’t even get that

This Trans Day of Remembrance, I remember Eden Knight. She passed away shortly after I came out in 2023, after being forcibly sent back to Saudi Arabia and detransitioned by her family. The funeral deadnamed and misgendered her. She was given no dignity, only hate.

To be clear: the updated statements are *complete shameless lies, no exceptions.* Vaccines *do not cause autism.* This is backed up by *overwhelming* evidence. The CDC is actively lying directly to the American people. Any journalist who doesn't lead with a demand for adv explanation needs to quit.
HEADS UP: CDC website now officially asserts that vaccines may cause autism.“Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.” Also says the “vaccines do not cause autism” header remains b/c of an agreement with Cassidy.

Following up, I think it would help to see an example of a case where an extraordinary writ of mandamus was actually warranted. Here, the appeals court found the trial court's ruling specifically conflicted with binding precedent, thus granting writ.

Remember when the DC Chief Justice started to hold the Trump admin in contempt earlier this year? Remember when the DC Appeals Court blocked it? Well the *full* court has spoken and decided…umm, you'll need this article to explain it. It's complicated.
NEW: D.C. Circuit won't review Trump admin contempt appeal further, sending matter back to Boasberg.

The latest order over the Trump administration's actions sending flights to El Salvador on March 15.

Call a bondulance
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Remember that Greg Abbott, governor of Texas, pardoned someone convicted of murder largely based on similar text messages he'd sent that same day.

Lawmakers have tried removing the beak from the octopus burgers they insist on forcing you to eat. Critics have pointed out that the fundamental problem is that the burgers are slimy and weird and nobody wants them, but surely an extra slice of tomato will help?
KOSA UPDATE: House lawmakers are considering removing duty of care & KOSA is currently in limbo since the House & Senate versions will differ.

BUT the threat of Bad Internet Bills still looms as the House considers age verification in new kids safety package...

Deploying tear gas is not assault. In fact it's SO not assault that any effort to kick it away IS assault.

...huh?
Loevy plays a video of a woman's arrest. Hewson says the woman was "assaultive" because she kicked a can of tear gas that had been deployed.

Loevy: "When you tear gas somebody … and they try to kick the tear gas canister away from them, that's assaulting?"

Hewson: "Yes."
