A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

We need to sound the alarm to the world that it is not safe to come for the World Cup. They need to pressure their federations to insist that games are only hosted in Canada and Mexico. Irresponsible to encourage fans and families of players to come in this climate. www.thenation.com/article/worl...
With ICE Out of Control, How Can the US Co-Host the 2026 World Cup?
The country has proven itself incapable of not abducting and imprisoning people entering the country—boycotting US matches avoids putting teams, their families, and fans in danger.

I don’t know anyone that watched trump’s Tuesday rally. Even my political junkie sister couldn’t stomach it.

I assume my republican former friends didn’t watch it. They like their outrage delivered via fox and Facebook. They don’t want to be face to face with an idiot.

@inlander.com published an article about the push and pull of local planning. Pullman City staff and council rebuff any changes to our planning process. And now, we have food deserts, empty downtown, and ugly vacant buildings.

My poor little city went from middling to empty. This was not inevitable at all. The cause is a city staff that still buys into trickle down via property taxes, and a city council that shirks its duties. Comparing Pullman to our neighboring cities:

A few towns in southeastern Washington, long abandoned by now-defunct 20th century railroads, are finding new ways to give their communities staying power — both for themselves and for tourists who might otherwise pass them by.
