Some websites suggest #GuyFawkes was set up and Robert Cecil used paranoia about Roman Catholics to influence King James in 1605

@romanpiso.bsky.social shared a link recently which suggested that the Vatican had links to Hitler in the 1940s

So maybe Cecil/King James were right to be paranoid? 🤔

I think it's fair to say that Sarkozy's excesses were relatively minor compared to the orange paedo but justice did eventually catch up with him, as it inevitably will with Trumplethinskin too (hopefully while he's still alive) ⚰️

Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Was delighted when our workaholic Moldavian neighbour managed to sell his window installation business and added a nice Porsche to his collection of cars

Not so delighted when his 24-year-old son convinced him it needed a chav exhaust, which is what we expect teenagers to put on their Ford Fiestas

Trump is “the most openly corrupt president in American history.”

Let’s all put Rutger Bregman’s words out there, seeing as how the BBC will not … on advice of counsel.

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

New piece:

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Putting this another way, the government keep saying that high gas prices are what are keeping UK electricity prices high, but this is a lie

The wholesale price of gas has come down significantly but OFGEM have still raised the electricity price cap

We are being conned (surprise! 🤡)
There’s some very bad news hidden in the Ofgem price cap for January announced yesterday: the electricity to gas price ratio has jumped to 4.67, its highest level since before the energy crisis.

This is a big barrier to households adopting heat pumps in Britain, and threatens our climate goals

Love the optimism, would really like this to be true but unfortunately you're trapped in a two-party system and a lot of people have really short memories

So (if elections actually happen) they will be booted out in 2026 but then a few years later they'll be back again

Just hope you're right 🤞

That didn't turn out well, either.
