Star Trek generally always helps with that but new stories focused on growing up in a post-Burn world (analogous to post-COVID) will be great to see and I, too, hope it is filled with hope. As a teacher, I’m looking forward to the life lessons they are learning. It’ll be great!

You can definitely do this…I saw Lower Deckers (yes, plural…and they were not together, it was at different times) last time I went.

I like the framing of “Dear Doctor” with Phlox writing to his human colleagues in the medicine field. I also think Archer coming to grips with a really tough decision and the conversations he has with Phlox really help set the “this is who we are” standard. #StarTrekEnterprise

I also watched #StarTrekEnterprise “Dear Doctor.” I particularly like the Phlox and Cutler pairing and Kellie Waymire is great. I also like the early exploration of the ethics behind choices that would inspire the Prime Directive. At times it’s a little too on the nose, but still a great episode.

The addition of the phase canons, and subsequent realization that they are not as strong as they’d hoped, really shines a light on the vulnerabilities of the crew and humbles them in ways that needed to happen in their early journey. Malcolm’s pineapple cake is also a classic. #StarTrekEnterprise

I have had a busy few weeks but I have watched a few more #StarTrekEnterprise episodes. I like what “Silent Enemy” has to offer for its intimidating and creepy foe as well as the “Let’s build the ship while we’re flying it” feel.

It was eight years ago today when this incredible show came to our screens and ushered in a new era of Star Trek. From the Vulcan Hello to Life Itself the series told some amazing stories and pushed the franchise forward in real measurable ways. My love forever, Discovery.

Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones on the set of "Battle at the Binary Stars", STAR TREK: DISCOVERY (2017)
Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones hanging out on the bridge of the USS Shenzhou during filming of "Battle at the Binary Stars".

Looking back at her role as Michael Burnham, Martin-Green reflected on the character's beginning as First Officer of the USS Shenzhou: "...even speaking about it in the cultural context, what it means for the Black community specifically, I know a lot of folks were like, 'Yeah, but you're not the captain'. And I understood that. I understood that point of view. And I thought: 'I know it seems that way, it seems like a slight. But it's not. We're going to earn it. And you're going to be able to watch.'"

I know there are plenty of artists now that utilize looping and other effects to great extent, but when he was up-and-coming, that was still a bold move at the time. Just a cool take on the one man show.

I have not listened to the new Ed Sheeran album yet because I decided to do a full discography run through first because it’s been a while. Early Ed Sheeran was so dang good and unique in a way that only he could bring to the table. I saw him live on the X tour and it really was so impressive.

Very close to where Taylor and I live, there is a neighborhood with space-related street names including some roads named after NASA space shuttles. Where Enterprise meets Discovery!

"Tapestry" is deep, personal and universally resonant. This classic script unlocks tremendous opportunities for simultaneously essential background and forward leaning development for Picard's character. Arguably the best use of Q ever. It's pitch perfect storytelling.

Score: 5.0/5

The last two seasons are great. Agree with you (and feel like we do get the character development in SNW but not the multi episode arcs quite the same way).

This is my first rewatch and the season 1 is better than I remember. I appreciate them leaning into the “new frontier” aspect. It’s a vibe.

#StarTrekEnterprise “Cold Front” is a home run in my book. The return of Silik and introduction of Daniels and more Temporal Cold War shenanigans has a big picture impact. One of season one’s best episodes.

#StarTrekEnterprise “Fortunate Son” makes a bold choice to close a loop and bring back the Nausicaans but they are ancillary and I wish there was more. This feels very run of the mill by the end (although we do get a little background on Travis’ upbringing).
