I met Gabi in 2018, when she was a law student at Howard. For over a year I’d see her every 2 weeks as we helped unhoused folks deal with the city during the routine “encampment cleanups.” She taught me so much about homelessness & kindness & hope. Thank you for everything Gabi! RIP.

That’s super interesting—so singing is harder for her than speaking, that means? Is the challenge in muscle coordination, do you think? (Curious because I have a different disability that has made speaking harder than singing, for me at least.)

I meant to say! I appreciated this story so much and if you have the opportunity to follow up on it, I would love a companion telling some of these stories from the patient side, about how people end up doing this instead of mainstream medical care.

As you fight ICE in your neighborhoods, always look for potentially positive outcomes to counterbalance your anger and despair. For me this continues to be meeting more neighbors, talking to more neighbors, and finding that others close by have also been fighting in ways I was unaware of.
