I understand its disorientating for some to look around with their own eyes and accept the reality of the situation, ('that's not supposed to happen here, that's supposed to happen over there') but unless reporters start aggressively covering this regime like they would any foreign authoritarian?

If you wanted to get rid the DC office to weaken CDC's presence inside the beltway, to weaken support for CDC in Congress, this is what you would do — fire a shit ton of highly trained professionals who stop infectious diseases due to "coding errors" and then re-hire them, but not the DC office
