My college notified me last minute that I had to pay around $2,000 out of pocket or I would be dropped from my classes. I am now broke.

Today is the birthday of cartoonist & animator Otto Messmer (Aug. 16, 1892-Oct. 28, 1983), most known for creating Felix the Cat for the Pat Sullivan Studio. He not only worked on the cartoons, but also the Felix the Cat newspaper comic strip & comic books.

I came back and it is in the TOS in one area but not the update blog, but the update blog makes it sound like complete pre-compliance regulations to be rolled out (e.g., US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act COPPA], OSA, DSA). Text is "Eligibility and Age Verification: To use Bluesky, you must be at least 13 years old and meet the minimum age required by your local laws to enter into a binding agreement. In some locations, we may be required to restrict access to certain features or content unless you complete an age assurance process and demonstrate that you are an adult." This is highlighted: "When age assurance is required, we use methods that comply with the laws that apply in that jurisdiction."

Increased censorship coming to Bluesky.

All "protect kids" legislation is barely disguised censorship that in effect strips most free speech provisions. The internet is the modern day town square, and by placing limits on speech, it is de facto repealing free speech.

Bluesky announcement stating that terms of service will update on September 15th to comply with censorship laws in the UK and USA. Blocks all access to the platform without a fake consent acknowledgement that we are powerless to do anything about.

Bluesky updated the guidelines and It’s looking really vague; oftentimes when those are left this open they have been weaponized to target individuals or collectives and move the goal post of what’s ‘acceptable’ for their platform.
