I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

Reminds me of a story my wife told from when she was a preschool teacher. She told a little girl to put on her shoes because it was snowy. The girl refused, went outside, and said, “my feet are cold.” They told her, “that’s consequences.” She threw a fit, yelling, “I don’t like consequences!”

you don't get to count on votes from people you are letting get exterminated. if you let a fox kill the chickens, should you still expect eggs in the morning?

At this point, the only thing GenAI people and their 'early adopters'/dupes can say is 'HERE TO STAY. HERE TO STAY.' over and over again, because if they repeat it enough times, it will make it true. They have no other argument left other than to say that they've already won, resistance is futile

"For decades, college radio championed underground artists before they hit the mainstream. Against all odds—COVID shutdowns, FCC regulations, and the long decline of FM radio—college radio is thriving again."

Gen Z's College Radio Revival:
Gen Z's College Radio Revival
Reports say Gen Z isn't discovering new artists. But college radio stations are overflowing with new DJs. As young listeners reject algorithms for analog—the industry should pay attention.

the defining image of the early 21st century is an agent of the state pointing a gun at a person, and a citizen pointing a smartphone camera back at them

we see this scene reenacted every day, around the world

Canvas, donate, counter disinfo among friends and family when you hear it, print and distribute @meganpiont.bsky.social 's anti-ICE zines, refuse to comply, film. That all counts.

And FYI, just cuz you can't contributed LOTS doesn't mean you shouldn't bother.

Some people are going to picket ICE holding facilities, get arrested over and over, brave tear gas and beatings. But not everyone can, and not everyone's expected to.

Helping in small ways is still helping.

since we’re here, i am a big fan of king arthur’s organic all-purpose and bread flours, but when it comes to whole wheat flours, i like to go local and we have a mill that does spelt, rye and buckwheat, as well as various heirloom cornmeals and grits

there are breads that i enjoy making myself — any quickbread, sourdough boules and batards, flatbreads, biscuits etc. — but you’ll never catch me making a baguette or croissant at home. i live a short bike ride from three boulangeries!

a big thing i learned about myself during covid is that i just want to buy a goddamned baguette from the store or the bakery, i literally never want to make the damned thing myself

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.
