Film lover - horror, exploitation, action, pretty much anything. But genre is my home.
Here for fun vibes about movies and shit, not much else.
One of my favorite watches in a while. A melancholic rust belt neo-noir that steadily walks into fatalistic tragedy. Walken has rarely been better as the all too human villain, Brad Sr.
A new favorite, but a total gut-punch.
That Patrick Leonard score, too. Urgh, so good.

Oh God. This is hard. It's a bottomless genre I'm still knocking blindspots off of.

Idk, probably Crippled Avengers or Drunken Master II or Ong Bak 2 or 8 Diagram Pole Fighter.

Books.

Been reading more this year than I have in ages. If I had to pick one though, it'd be BUFFALO HUNTER HUNTER by Stephen Graham Jones @sgj.bsky.social
2025 has been a rough year. What's one piece of art that's brought you absolute joy despite everything?

I think its time I acknowledge that I am, truly, The Evolved Geek.

I like Donner, Snyder, AND Gunn SUPERMAN. I think I'm a species of 1.

Still thinking about this. All of the close-ups Kubrick uses REALLY elevate the performances on the big screen in ways I wasn't expecting.
Nicholson took on an layer of intimidation I hadn't felt before. For a performance sometimes criticized as too broad, god does he feel dangerous.
Well, that was incredible.
Not an original observation here at all: but seeing older films on the big screen you've only seen at home really is transformative.
I've seen THE SHINING a dozen times and this was the first time it really got under my skin in a big way.
Seeing THE SHINING in IMAX today with friends and like, I'm so excited to have this experience?

This film has been one of my hyperfixations since childhood.
The snowy, gothic aesthetic of BATMAN RETURNS is still my favorite rendition of Gotham City in film. The oversized statues, the soundstage environments, the matte painting skylines. *chef’s kiss*

Genre movie Mom of all time.

I think what holds me back from loving 2011's THE MUPPETS is my irrational hatred of Jason Segel.

SUPERMAN '25 put some pep in the step of superhero movies again, so I'm naturally stoked for this. And was that Kandor I saw in the trailer getting captured!? (idk if that's an element of the comic this is based on, still haven't read it).

Great, underseen Showa era goodness.
The X from Outer Space (1967) Dir. Kazui Nihonmatsu — The tipping point where kaiju fully embraced the silly. Guilala (also…a Ben Affleck film?) stomps through this off-kilter gem. Nudged the genre toward delightful absurdity. Goofy and backed by a wonderfully strange score. Impossible not to grin🎞️📽️
