I’m curious as to whether any jurisdiction has implemented programs for pet waste? It’s organic but I believe currently just goes into regular garbage/landfill?

What I find so deeply frustrating about these columns about our supposed inability to build things is the complaints about "bureaucracy" frequently turn out to be "Waah, they won't let us poison this river with selenium!" or "Waah, I don't want to have to share revenue with the local First Nation!"

The MPO is an admission of dysfunction. It only exists because the rest of the government’s regulatory apparatus is unfit for purpose.

🚨 HEADS UP

Washington State has reported a suspected human H5N1 case with no cattle exposure likely bird-linked (or from contaminated milk).

The patient is severely ill in hospital.

Clade pending (D1 vs B3). CDC confirmation awaited.

If confirmed, it will be Washington’s first H5N1 case of 2025.

We’ve known since the 90s there weren’t going to be enough doctors. Decades of provincial governments ignored the emerging crisis. Any one of them could have addressed it by funding more seats in universities, medical residencies, etc,. They chose not to prioritize our healthcare. It was a choice.
Hospitals across Canada are closing their ERs because there aren't enough doctors to run them. Millions don’t have a doctor. Millions more can’t get an appointment.

It didn’t used to be this way. Turns out it wasn’t an accident.

“There are plenty more vaccine doses to go around.”
Except there isn’t. While my partner and I got COVID/flu shots, our child couldn’t get a COVID shot. The BC Health Ministry ordered 1.94 million doses of the flu vaccine vs 1.4 million COVID vaccines. #BCPoli #COVID

Vaccinations are up this year over last year, but there are enough doses to go around, B.C.'s health ministry says.

Make provincial governments accountable again.
David Cochrane just raised the point that provinces are underfunding their justice systems, and that federal changes to the Criminal Code doesn't change that.
