“National pride, like every other form of pride, is an abomination in the sight of God, and Pride of race must be one of the things that pass away when one becomes a new creature in Christ Jesus.”

There's a strand of conservative Protestantism that revolts against considering Jesus as an ethical teacher or example, insisting that he is a savior instead. Turns out that when you detach Jesus from ethics, you simply get a mascot that can be put to about any use and doesn't seem to save anyone.

The 2nd installment in my native edible plant series is here!

I wrote about an oak shrub perfectly suited to small gardens that pumps out high-quality food under tough conditions with zero inputs. It’s also an ecological powerhouse that supports hundreds of native insects & mammals
I'm going big on these plants in 2026, Part 2

Working on issue no.1 of The Proclaim and realized I could print the back like the front of a letter. This will make it where we can tape the edges and mail them out without the need for an envelope!

Lent starts in a little less than two weeks. You should go download my free zine Crucified Earth and "walk" the stations of the cross this season. ryancagle.gumroad.com/l/ecostation...

I got to stop posting stuff at the dead of night. These narrative meditations are some of my favorite writing of all time. It was interesting to pair them with overt ecological images this go around.
I wrote these mediations a decade ago. This year I decided to reimagine the stations within an ecological register. Each meditation, and scripture selection is paired with an image for contemplation, though no direct connection is drawn.
