There's this episode of Star Trek where Captain Picard is captured and tortured, and the main way that the torturer tries to break him is by showing him four lights, and telling him that there are five.

There are four lights.

This is not a post about Star Trek.

Really starting to wonder why I’m still on social media at this point and whether I’m just painting a target on my back as a disabled person.

I’d like to think there’s a point that justifies the risk. But it’s a far less effective substitute for in-person socialization than it once was, and…

Feeling better about canceling Paramount Plus every day. It sucks to lose Star Trek, but I’m not supporting this shit.

Can’t leave an empty trash can unattended for two seconds around this guy or he moves in like a hermit crab.

I give at least 50-50 odds something like this still happens and unlike in Europe where everybody knows it’s Russia…

All it will take is a couple incidents, the administration will blame it on “Antifa” and enough morons will believe it to induce a rapid spiral into civil war and secession.
Russia had plans to kill Americans by downing US airliners and poisoning water supplies. These are the people the White House keeps bending over backwards to appease while threatening our allies in Europe.

This past summer at the northern New England bike parks I saw way fewer Canadians than in previous years but a few dedicated ones persisted. In conversations with them on the lifts I repeatedly heard that their thinking is they didn’t want to let politics interfere with their riding life.

On a rewatch of The Expanse and it’s starting to get good after that slow season 1 ramp-up. Feels very much like the books even with character changes like the GOAT, Camina Dummer. 🫡

Optimism is for assholes and Earthers.

Trying to convince myself that post viral fatigue is very common with (presumed) RSV and not that unusual with lots of other viruses so I shouldn’t panic. It’s only been a few days, and 2-3 weeks is pretty common even for healthy people.

But the fatigue is just so bad…

I absolutely did not have Zohran snake charming Trump on my bingo card today.

Wild times, even by 2025 standards.

Family caught something that’s negative for covid and flu (suspect RSV based on a bunch of unique things about it) and I’m sick for only the third time since 2019.

The reactive arthritis flare is brutal. My dirt season off-ramp has become a very steep garbage chute.

Am I okay? Yes, and also no. 🤷‍♂️

Given all the cap ex spent on AI, for the industry to see just a 10% return on investment, between now and 2030, they would need to earn $750 billion per year in revenue. That's about $200 per month from every Netflix subscriber or $40 per month from every iPhone user.
