The film industry wants to support and involve itself in games

For all the wrong reasons.

When we try to raise our relevancy with key artistic events or moments worthy of the same support that film and TV get it ends up becoming a big brother little brother thing

Preach
I may delete this because it’s a bit spicy but it shouldn’t be lost on us that games being turned into TV is essentially harvesting the stories written by those who don’t have union representation or healthcare with WGA by those that do. Our stories are good enough for TV but the writers aren’t?

A couple of weeks ago I went to a bizarre but incredibly moving 8 hour interactive stage play as part of Sydney Fest called Asses.Masses. If you ever get the chance to go to this thing please do! It was hilarious and socially relevant and a joy to experience with others!
Play the Stage: Asses.masses Turns the Sydney Opera House Theatre into a Collaborative Video Game. And all the men and women merely players in this interactive video game designed to be played by an audience together.

This is Jerry Lawson. He invented the video game cartridge for the Fairchild Channel F system. Because of his invention, many consoles had cartridges and CD formats and would become the norm.

The Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and many consoles wouldn't exist without him.

Happy Black History Month.

Fallout season 2 was fantastic, great season.

But everyone, I gotta say. I am not a big fan of season finales that have too many spinning plates and unresolved plot!

While I enjoyed it heaps, I have so many questions. This felt like the first hr of a 2 hr movie.

Exciting where it’s going tho.

Wishlist for @bsky.app in order of what I want

1. Better video upload (higher bitrate and size)

2. Drafts and Scheduling (like jesus christ)

3. Polls / voting

4. More feed control / options. As someone who manages one, it's hard and annoying

5. You won't do but just revert face id req for Dms

Amen!
A good producer is absolutely an incredible force multiplier and allows the folks who are creating the actual artifacts to be more effective.

A producer beholden to methodology or who does not understand the needs of the game they're working, however, can do irreparable damage very easily.
I reposted this, and then saw some discourse in the replies, so here's my take: big games absolutely need managers and producers. In fact, as I've grown older, more of my time is spent on being a manager and producer. But I think the underlying sentiment here is: trust the people in the trenches.

Hey - if you're a game developer who for some reason happens to have access to Google's Project Genie, we would really love to hear your thoughts.

If you're a gamedev who doesn't have access but has strong thoughts to share regardless, please also feel free to get in touch. Email or DM me!
Google has released Project Genie, an AI tool that generates characters and explorable environments.

Videos of Genie outputs using licensed characters have since been subject to takedowns. Stock prices for some game companies have also dropped, though one analyst said the reaction was "overblown."

Project Genie is an "experimental research prototype" that lets users generate characters and explore worlds to move around.

Hello all!

I recently got interviewed by @screenhub.bsky.social on practical grant writing. It also teases the consultancy I have been ~secretly~ doing.

Will talk about that in due time. But for now, please enjoy the nuggets of wisdom Anthony and I dig into.

Avatar Fire and Ash was so damn fun

That movie is basically what happens when a radical person goes to college and falls in love with a goth chick.

Do they become less racist? No!

Do they become at least a bit more open minded to other cultures? Kinda?

The movie knew exactly what it was.

Interesting to see how TikTok has shot itself in the foot

Will be curious to see if other platforms are enough for people to jump considering how much verticals are integrated everywhere.
