"Then there’s the “not on my bingo card” crowd. That one really grates on my nerves. It’s basically just white privilege dressed up as quippy self-awareness".

Fantastic read!
"Black people are tired. Not metaphorically tired—actually tired. The kind of tired that turns every group chat into a mix of gallows humor and emotional triage."

I write about white ignorance and how exhausting it is to hear white ppl insist "this isn't who we are, when it's ALWAYS who we've been.
White People’s Performative Ignorance Is Exhausting—Opinion
Disbelief over authoritarianism in America isn’t a cutesy personality trait. It’s a confession: You haven’t been paying attention.

The dental ones of these are absolute cinema. I'm gonna deep dive these again
We were unable to get COVID boosters for our kids and ourselves prior to travel this summer and were told days before our appt Alberta didn't get any pediatric vaccines for COVID and aren't going to anytime soon.

And my 4 yr old son is a stem cell recipient and cancer survivor

Again I ask #Medsky why they are not using N95s in #oncology.

Why are there no HEPA purifiers in lobbies, patient rooms, etc?

There is no justification for not using the most effective tools we have to PREVENT airborne infection.

There is no scientific, ethical, nor cost related reason not to.
When my son had brain cancer in 2021 the oncologist told us they're more concerned with bacterial infections in immunosuppressed cancer patients, so not to worry about a virus 😬. Reality is he was much safer getting chemo in 2021 than today bc some ppl still cared about masking in hospitals
Yes. Everything has been tailored to their preferences so anything outside of their own lived experience is an aberration. Cishet white male directors, writers, producers used to create vast majority in mainstream so every bit of media consumed/advertisement is what they want to see/hear.

MY NEW COLUMN:

For centuries, the Texas government has weaponized different laws to control and exploit Black women’s bodies—first through slavery, then through Jim Crow segregation, and now through abortion restrictions that disproportionately harm and control the lives of Black women.
For Black Women in Texas, Juneteenth’s Promise of Freedom Remains Unrealized
State control over reproduction in Texas didn't end with slavery in 1865. Today’s draconian abortion laws and bounty hunts keep Black women in reproductive enslavement.

Wow. These took us way longer than an hour! More like 3+ but our 6 yr old has done now Ferrari, Williams, McLaren and Red Bull. Such a cool collection.
*"unless it's a bananaphone"

I'll be referencing this chart now in my rationale for taking dental radiographs.

One more bookish set for good measure.

These biscuits are inspired by the weird and wonderful world of medieval illustration.
Fluoride in water supply allows adult enamel (which forms from age 3-6) to form stronger than natural enamel that is more stable in acidic pH (F replaces OH-). This is a lifelong benefit that can't be achieved w topical fluoride (toothpaste) after development window closes around 6 yrs old.

The more I think about the horrors being inflicted on Adriana Smith’s family, the angrier I get about the fact that I wouldn’t have survived my own hysterectomy had I not had a white man with me.

I was sent home with a life threatening internal bleed 3 times.

The state of Georgia is using the body of a brain-dead woman as an incubator. Because she was 9 weeks pregnant when she died, and their abortion ban is from about 6 weeks, they are sustaining her on life support, without input from her family, until 32 weeks of gestation. A true dystopian nightmare.

This is an unscientific decision that will cause harms. While topical fluoride is useful, when adult teeth are growing (in children) ingested fluoride makes more impact than any topical fluoride later can.
Everything we ingest “changes our microbiome.” Microbiome composition is not a health outcome!
And cannot be undone. The window for adult enamel formation is age 3-6 (not wisdom teeth). Miss that window to form highly substituted fluorapatite with the 0.7mg/ml in h20, the adult teeth are forever less stable in low pH = LIFETIME increased cavity risk. Massive amt of Americans are screwed.
A patient told me this week after hearing a podcast he believes AIDS is caused by a vaccine. I just can't anymore.

How much do you think it costs to make a pair of Nike shoes in Asia?

3 years cancer free so far!

What really bugs me is if he did die of COVID during treatment, ppl would've said it was sad, but he was gonna die anyway so they can justify not changing their behaviour. (They did this w a cancer pt in my province).
This is so awful. When my son was in hospital a lady in the elevator came on unmasked.

Me: "can you mask? his little brother has cancer", gesturing to my 3 yr old with me (this was Dec 2021 still mandatory in shared spaces)

Her: coughed loudly and yelled "ITS MY CHOICE" and rode the elevator.
This is horrifying. When my boys had sleep apnea they saw an ENT who scoped their airways and removed the obstructions (adenoids and tonsils), successfully treating it.

Taking advantage of lack of access to medical specialists by promoting dangerous "work-arounds" is a special kind of evil
We came within HOURS of a measles exposure at the Stollery before my son had finished his mmr.

When you get a stem cell transplant it wipes your immune memory so my son had to repeat his entire series of immunizations. That was absolutely terrifying. Wasn't my choice to have an unprotected 3 y.o.
