Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.

#OnThisDay in 1643, the Cornish Royalist Army routed the Parliamentarians at the Battle of Braddock Down near Boconnoc, securing Cornwall for the King. 1,500 prisoners were taken and 200 Roundheads were slain - the Cornish losing barely a man.

Today is a Feast of St Day - possibly the same saint as the Breton St Dei. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity at St Day was once an important Cornish pilgrimage site.

#OnThisDay in 1559, Elizabeth was crowned Queen of England. The Venetian ambassador described her as ruling over five different peoples: Cornish, English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh (she wasn’t however Queen of Scotland). It is also believed she learnt to speak Cornish.

Storm Goretti has left many without access to broadband, internet, or rail for four days. This is completely unacceptable.

The Government has committed to improve infrastructure resilience in Cornwall, and providers must work with Government to get the remaining infrastructure back online ASAP.

If Kernow’s MPs are currently in discussion with Government about what Cornish devolution should look like, those talks should be informed by the woeful national response to Storm Goretti and a desperate need for greater self-sufficiency.

“If this happened in London or the Home Counties, the government would have declared a national emergency”.

Forgotten once more - the headland of ‘foreigners’ indeed.

Build baby oh ...

Seems MAGA hats and slogans don't magically build housing.

But there's a deeper realisation to come that we won't solve the housing crisis by relying on private developers.
