One of the best stories written in the wake of last year's fires was by @sammyroth.bsky.social, titled: “Los Angeles is a climate disaster. The fires will change nothing.”

Glad to see him follow up with this very correct assessment that absolutely nothing has changed
I was right. The L.A. fires changed nothing
A year after Altadena and Pacific Palisades burned, "climate change" has exited the chat.

I can't believe it's been over twenty years since the last Lemon Jelly record. Those guys were really cookin

I just turned on the Bears game and I'm already questioning the unusual(?) decision to lube up the game ball

big, if true
hypermimetic exclamations do as much damage to the mind as repeat LLM usage

posting a reply like "none of those words are in the bible" and "sir this is a wendy's" have the same effect as consulting with chatGPT for an hour

I guess properly cleaning the bathrooms or renovating the lobby so it doesn't feel like a TSA line would cut too deeply into said profits

I'm gonna need to come back to this because there's no way late-period Bon Iver is the best song in this match. Is there?

law enforcement budgets of every stripe been dangerously bloated this entire decade and if you walking into twenty thee twenty six talkin bout some damn you need to sweeten the message of stop donating billions to shooting up the taxpayer you never really gave that much of a shit

"Illegal" isn't even my third-favorite song off FANCY THAT but "The Giver" is a masterclass in how to completely fumble the rollout of a sure-thing hit song and I don't care about the other two, sorry.

Full disclosure: my mental health is currently in the toilet but this DJ Travella track is making me reconsider having depression

The most stacked round of the competition so far. Feels unfair to pit the tremendous Emma-Jean Thackray vocal track against Sherelle & Eris Drew's excellent instrumentals. Giving the latter my points (inc. bonus) strategically although I expect the former to win.

I think Bb trickz is ontologically evil but I do like some of her songs. I think it's Minnie for me here though

I don't like the Model/Actriz record that much but at least it didn't put me to sleep

PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson are my two favorite current pop stars and "Stateside" is one of my favorite songs of 2025 and yet... the remix is mid! Sorry! I like what Nelly is trying a lot more than I like listening to the result. Bad Bunny gets my vote.

I'm beautiful and special and this is the very first time I've heard the T.Swift track. It sounds like self-parody but I'm sure it's not! Out of the rest I find Lily least annoying somehow

I go to Alamo DTLA all the time and I genuinely can't fathom how this will make anything easier. If anything I'm less likely to do a phone order during the film because I don't want to be That Guy.
NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.

Ordering from your phone means using your phone during the movie. You cannot have one without the other.

This is so awful.

Without googling anyone's politics the Hedonist jumps out at me the most of these. Gonna look which one @jelbugle.bsky.social submitted in a sec

Thakzin, whose music I've been meaning to explore more since we did another track last year(?) is the only thing popping for me this round

2-3 more Zoomer Apocalypse Jams here lmao, of which Black's is the best. I like the Gelli Haha album but whoever submitted this should have been brave enough to enter the piss song instead.

The Chloe Q track is interesting only when placed in the growing pantheon of zoomer apocalypse jams of which it's a particularly blithe example. Best thing I've heard in ages from all three rappers here but "High Horse" hit me hardest.

My two-year-old heard "Abracadabra" for the first time yesterday and can already chant along, whereas this isn't the KPDH track that's been rocking his preschool. Lisa et al. track is pure post-Weeknd slop. Love the Addison record but this isn't an album award.

The Blood Orange track is at least... dynamically interesting

We just started watching THE PITT season one so I guess we've got some catching up to do, but I saw a photo of some of the supporting cast members together at some kind of event and immediately went "oh look, it's my friends!" which hasn't happened to me since ABBOTT ELEMENTARY premiered
