it can be hard work being an active citizen and lots of people don't have the time or capacity to do it. which means opportunities to participate in civic life are not equally distributed.

Fingal councillors have decided to raise rents for tenants in social housing. The council’s draft 2026 budget proposed increasing rents from 12 percent of a tenant’s income to 17 percent – in the end, councillors went with 14.5 percent.

Was out of work 17 years ago, watched a documentary about coffee farmers and trade unions and decided to start a coffee business. It was a big struggle for a long time. Really grateful we got mentioned yesterday in Irish Times 50 great brands. Never underestimate timing, dumb luck and persistence.
