Business of 6 staff roasting high quality coffee.

We give:

1% of all revenue to Women's Aid
1% to origin projects
1% to staff
.5% to local projects
€30,000 of coffee between 3 local hospitals

Big businesses could easily run similarly.

A reintroduction as more people seem to be here.
We're a small independent coffee company with 5 full time staff. We've brought coffees to Ireland from producers who are genuinely among world's best. The business however was always meant to be about more than just selling coffee for profit.
Last year we gave up 4% of all our revenue between staff and good causes. This year we hope to do the same. I don't think any coffee roaster does a better job than us so if you like coffee and our way of doing business imbibe.ie/pages/shop #speirgorm

Last year we increased the percentage of all we earn that we give up from 3.5% to 4%. We did this by the addition of local grants but also by projects at coffee origins. This year we're going to balance that more toward local so the 4 grants we give away will go from €2,500 to €4,000. #speirgorm

We experienced an awful lot of hassle in the run up to Christmas with our courier service. We always have customer orders ready either same or next day but were getting emails from some frustrated customers asking where their coffee was. We've switched to An Post so hope to see big improvements!

Just got an email from someone to say they tried our coffee and thought it was amazing so he sent his brother in Afghanistan a kilo. I needed a message like this and so kind he took took the time to do it. Far preferable to the few we got saying our courier screwed up in the Christmas madness…

Watched Severance when it first came out and like most, loved it. For no particular reason, didn’t get around around to Season 2 so tried it last night. Made it through about 30 seconds of the recap. Started watching season 1 again. As though for the first time…

Always remember that these figures do not include those couch surfing, inappropriately in hospitals or nursing home, living in overcrowding, in refuges, and the thousands and thousands on housing waiting lists.

I plan to read a lot more in 2026. Read my first Jon Fosse novel toward end of last year. Loved it but hard to put into works why. Picked up another of his books and @ronanhession.bsky.social puts it perfectly.

Retiro Park in Madrid. You couldn’t have an avenue this wide in Ireland without putting at least 4 lanes of cars on it.

Once again, if you believe that FF&FG would only love to give us a well-resourced, world beating welfare state but it’s just those pesky immigrants won’t let them, you are a gobshite. You have a loyalty card with your local bridge salesman. You were, in fact, born yesterday.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Put a basketball hoop and backboard up in the roastery yard. Productivity nether increased nor went down. We have however all gotten better at basketball.
