Usually, 18% of Russian budget spending happens in December. This year, only 13% is left - if Russia wants to stay within its budget plan. Most likely, the plan will change. Historical patterns indicate total spending of 45 trillion rubles and a deficit of 8 trillion rubles (3.6% of GDP).

🇺🇸🇺🇦 US pressures Zelensky to agree to territorial concessions - Axios

Trump's advisers, apparently, wanted to get a clear "yes" from Zelensky when discussing the plan with him.

New York City went 12 days without a murder in November / December. That's tied for the longest stretch in history, according to the NYPD. As someone who was here when there were 6+ murders per day in this town, it continues to amaze me how safe the place is.

The EU was created in by people who lived through WWII and saw political and economic integration as a means to bringing peace and stability to the continent.

It is being opposed by Putin, Musk and the others who support Neo Nazis in Europe.

Thanks, McFaul, very cool

Very cool phrase to describe the official stance of the entire US as a country
This is why I’m cautiously optimistic — in the long run.

The USSR sweater is really the bow on the genocidal package.
Russian propagandist Armen Gasparyan openly called for the mass killing of Ukrainians, saying there’s “nothing wrong if some Halya dies in Chernihiv.” He described strikes on the Dnipro left bank as a “cleansing” and claimed civilians “deserve” it.

This is fucked up, but also admittedly very funny.
The Russian shadow fleet tanker Kairos, damaged by a Ukrainian naval drone, is now off Bulgaria’s coast. Bulgarian authorities say a Turkish tug towed the burning vessel into their waters and then left it. Rough seas on Dec 6 prevented boarding. The crew has enough food and water for several days.

Russia wants the EU to collapse because it’s a military rival.

It needs a pretext for getting rid of the EU that isn’t territorial expansion, though.

So it advances the idea that the EU isn’t democratic (as if Russia was).

The richest man in the world falls for it hook, line, and sinker.
This is so perfect. No one have any doubts at this point about what Elon Musk really represents.

This is a confusing graph, but worth digging into. The left axis is the spread between Urals and Brent (ie discount), represented by the bar graph. The right axis is the dollar price per barrel, represented by the two line graphs.

Bottom line- Urals oil sold for $44 a barrel in November.

Putin’s spokesman Peskov praised recent changes to the U.S. National Security Strategy, claiming they align with Russia’s views. He called it a potential basis for “constructive work” on a "Ukraine settlement".

This says it all.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:
