US imperialism no longer operates within the post-WWII 'rules based order' it created with its (false) appeals to international rights, freedom, and win-win scenarios. It works through zero-sum calculations, violence, and misinformation. Palestine and Venezuela are front lines.

If you are a white man in media and STILL whining about all the Black/poc/women who "took your jobs" after the absolute bloodbath/backlash and almost violent re-whitening of media, punditry and academia in the past year, you should go to therapy, find god/gods or take up knitting

Just my two cents

I have a new open access article out, co-authored with @alejopedregal.bsky.social and Nemanja Lukić, called 'For an Anti-Imperialist Ecological Modernity'. The article introduces a special issue we've edited on ecomodernism and imperialism. But it does much more than that. A thread. 1/13

Mounting debt crisis means global South governments are spending on average 15% of their revenue servicing external debt. This figure has doubled since 2010.

More than 3.4 billion people now live in countries that spend more on interest payments than on health or education.

Support the hunger strikers

In prison for over a year without trial. They are victims of a system that has used the Terrorism Act to attempt to silence opposition to Israel’s genocide.

They are now at serious life-threatening risk. They must be given fair trials.

This week I reach back to the 1990s and the concept of “interpassivity,” a critique of the widespread idea that “interaction” was inherently liberating for an audience. But to think in nuanced and critical ways about creativity with generative AI, the “gesture of disappearance” has new salience.
