I’m now writing a new biography about Clara Schumann—an accessible book for the general public called MADAME COMPOSER.

It’s gonna take 2yrs but you can get updates here: sarahfritz.substack.com/p/book-deal-...
I went WAY more political than normal in this month’s newsletter—thanks to the movies SINNERS & K-POP DEMON HUNTERS🙌🏻🥳 Best movies of the year with mega music plots!!! The classical music industry could take notes.

I’m enjoying my social media hiatus—focusing on writing for a while. I’m still doing the newsletter though, linking Clara Schumann to current events. Timeless problems:

The opening of Clara Schumann's concerto, composed when she was 15 and premiered with Felix Mendelssohn conducting the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Can't wait to perform this with the BBC Philharmonic and Nicholas Carter at Malvern Theatres, 9 May! 🎉 malvern-theatres.co.uk/event/bbc-ph...
Oh yes. And you can tell by how Ashkenazy plays it he knows the text just as well as Bonney. Helps the singer infinitely!
My FAV recording of Clara Schumann’s op. 12 & 13 & other without opus lieder. They give her work all the respect & care her she deserves. I’ve listened to it hundreds of times!

Wowwww I believe it. for real so much malpractice with endometriosis going on. Cuz it’s just “woman problems” donchta know. I support you!
Sometimes my research matches my reality too well — now reading Clara Schumann’s frustration at how few of her “educated liberal” friends supported the revolutions in 1848-49. Touché.

Our Composer of the Week @BBCRadio3 is the queen of French #Baroque music, Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre. Each day at 4pm Kate Molleson follows her story from the heart of Paris to the golden setting of #LouisXIV's court. Producer Julien Rosa #harpsichord #classicalmusic bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...
I’ve made all sorts of FANTASTIC discoveries that I’ve decided not share to till the book comes out so that my research doesn’t end up in the AI machine—🙄😜.

But just fyi— every day I find exciting stuff I’m so impatient to share with y’all!
My pleasure— @saranahmed.bsky.social says what’s needed so well as always.

@sarahfritz.bsky.social, those Wieck Schumann romances are getting some traction.
Fantastic!!! What’s spco? Thank you so so much.
It’s that time of year where I procrastinate writing with gardening—for hours—every day. 🪻🌸🌺🌷🌼
In the U.S. the wait time is not like this BUT I’ve had countless docs over 10yrs tell me I don’t have endometriosis before I FINALLY had a PA explain to me there’s no way to know without laparoscopy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Medical misogyny malpractice!

🧵It’s #BlackMaternalHealthWeek -a time to center Black moms & a need for action.
I’m reflecting on what this means in a year when our #NIH grant “Looking Back to Look Forward: Social Environment Across the Lifecourse, Epigenetics, & Birth Outcomes in Black Families” was terminated.
