Did you know last month was the 25th anniversary of the Walkerton water contamination tragedy?

Anyway, sorry, you were saying something about the need to deregulate environmental approvals to "build Canada"..?

These will probably be the types of projects government will tout as the reason for Bill 15. And no, it shouldn’t take 23 years to build a school! No one wants that.

But, once again, many of the tools in Bill 15 are not necessary for addressing this issue. It’s still an overreaching bill.

The Vancouver School Board creating a graphic showing how it's going to take 23 years to build a single school for a centrally planned neighbourhood in the heart of B.C.'s biggest city serves as a hilarious indictment of how planning happens here

We were told to trust them, that we’ll eventually see we were making a big deal out of nothing. An absolute insult to the intelligence of anyone who understands their words don’t line up with the actual language of this bill and resists trusting any government’s word.

In addition to abandoning their duty to consult with First Nations on the development of this bill, the NDP took every opportunity to gaslight any voices raising valid concerns about this bill.
sarahkorpan.bsky.social
And with that, the NDP secure their reputation as a government prioritizing ego-driven “Abundance” over their own obligations to DRIPA, and can absolutely no longer be called climate leaders.

The B.C. gov’t is trying to push Bills 14 & 15 — laws that sideline First Nations rights in the name of “streamlining” development. They undermine Indigenous sovereignty + ignore UNDRIP.

Why is the BC NDP's Bill 15 so controversial? @zoeyunker.bsky.social explains the similarity between this "fast-track" legislation and the BC Liberals' similar approach in days of yore (i.e., the early 2000s) #bcpoli thetyee.ca/News/2025/05...

Great to stand together against Bill 15 this morning. This bill is a blank cheque for Cabinet to pick and choose which projects avoid rigorous EA and permitting reqts without any clear guardrails to uphold Indigenous rights and governance and ensure environmental protections.

Gas prices back up near carbon tax prices just in time for the long weekend.

The idea that fossil fuel companies weren’t just going to charge what we always paid and pocket what the government used to bring in carbon taxes is one of the slickest scams ever pulled here.

That could include new mines.

Eby claiming Bill 15 is what the public wants is actually egregious, given how the bill enables gov to bypass mandatory public comment from the EA process. Evoking the public while simultaneously enabling his gov to eliminate public voices from critical processes is a baffling move.
