My fall and winter sadness is a completely different kind of sadness. It's lonely but light. I consume it like an oatmilk cortado and almond scone. It's the last line of a devastating poem--that feeling that you'll never again read it for the first time.

Morning Walk After Night Rain
In the early morning, life resets and feels possible again.
The sky is entirely mine to peel at the edges and adhere
to whatever I don't wish to look at: my murky reflection, a Halloween lawn decoration deflated by heavy winds,
potholes in the road. The truth is, I don't miss you. I miss the idea of you: the only part of you that wouldn't stick.

When I saw thick mist this morning, I grabbed my camera and ran for the door. I staked out this pylon for about an hour. The sun was trying to shine through the mist, which produced this unusual glow!
