I am working with a group of well-intentioned folks who keep asking “how do we make our autistic employees feel safe enough to unmask at work?” And I can’t quite get them to understand that’s not a reasonable goal. Nor helpful.

Drooling and drooling in the widening gyre, the students cannot hear the professor; class falls apart, the lecture cannot hold; mere anarchy is loosed upon the world

On this first day of fall, one of my favorite quotes about this time of year: "Because from here on in, the shadows get deeper, the nights get longer. We're heading into the dark, and we have to hang onto each other.” ~The Haunting of Bly Manor

If it helps, the gate fee was $25 per person, the vendor prices were outrageous and it was so crowded I could hardly think. I used to love it but the experience is not the same anymore.

View for the weekend. Easternmost town in the US.
A rocky shoreline in Eastport, Maine. A lobster boat and a small island are offshore. There’s not a cloud in the sky and the ocean is deep blue.

Right? So much space junk out there. I use the SkyGuide app and I’m always like oooh, satellite! Nope — it’s always a piece of a rocket booster from the 1980s. Although seeing the ISS is always a thrill!

My wife bought me a Dwarf Lab Astro telescope camera thingy for Christmas and I brought it on our trip to Nova Scotia last month. There are so many stars you can BARELY see Cassiopeia, OMG the Milky Way, and that dashed line in the upper right corner is a plane headed to Europe…. Unbelievable.
An astonishing starfield
