She shoots, she scores… again.

“I had a mirthless laugh at the New Statesman’s cover this week, which characterised the Mandelson affair as “the scandal of the century”. Guys, it’s not even the biggest scandal of the scandal.”

Never forget Epstein’s little helpers – the powerful men who knew about his crimes, and helped him out anyway | Marina Hyde
I’m sorry, but this is not just a political scandal. Time to refocus on the horrific mistreatment of women and girls, and the role of these ghouls, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

I believe the genre is dark academia…

Enjoyable saga about two postgraduate students who voyage into Hell to retrieve their PhD supervisor.

Like all fantasy, as daft or as serious as you want to make it. I was entertained.

Transfer deadline day eh?

Spent the last 12 hours worrying we might not sign a German dude I’d never heard of until last week.

Everything about this is tremendous.
recently learned about “dek bass”, a sound system culture in rural West Bengal, using cassette decks and homemade systems, and it’s remarkable because 1) the music and equipment are sick and 2) the DJ always looks like he’s being briefed on a national security issue

What We Can Know by Ian McEwan

Split between the recent past and a post-climate catastrophe future in which Britain is reduced to a rump archipelago.

This is a bleak book filled - McEwan style - by mostly awful people. However, I was pulled in, gripped by the mystery of a vanished poem.

Fair play to Celtic, they were the better team and - on balance - probably deserved their win over Auchinleck Talbot.

Bleak, damp day in the north of England so, to keep up morale, I’ve been reading Ian McEwan’s latest. 🕺

1929 by Andrew Ross Sorkin

Brilliant retelling of the 1929 crash which succeeds by zeroing in on key individuals and their stories.

Shurely destined to be a film a la The Big Short - final scene the Senate Committee hearings, snappers with big cameras crowding in.
