I dare anyone to try and just listen to 30 seconds and stop. It just commands me to drop everything.
The new @polypores.bsky.social album isn't merely good, it's astonishing. Stephen has been on the form of his life lately, and this is so good it just makes me wonder why I even bother. A joyous maelstrom of kaleidoscopic polyrhythms and gorgeous melodies. polypores.bandcamp.com/album/hungry...

Bandcamp Friday is almost here… it won’t take many purchases to eclipse all the meager nothings that streaming doesn’t pay

Peter MacNicol is the only good thing in Ghostbusters 2– a film with that rare quality of being so bad, it makes you wonder if the original was actually worth watching.
Defend a terrible film by picking something from it that saves it.

If this was hanging on the wall next to the register, you’d wonder if there was a much cooler video store in town.
(And I really like 4 of these films)
I'm not going to pretend these are bad films (I don't even mind the Woody film) but this doesn't exactly scream "voracious cinephile with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of genre and world cinema" so much as "dad who watches a lot of TNT."

Looking at this year’s Christmas stamp, it looks like Mary and Joseph formed a keyboard synth duo.

Rome, Open City just leveled me.
And I can’t get out of my mind how much the Nazi interrogator looks just like the guy who ruined bookstores and now retail.

How many tracks can one make and master to a cassette tape while on a long haul flight? The answer is 2.

Waking at 4am for the rest of your life to wonder…
Am I a hypocrite for wanting this after giving a hard no to muppet knives out
Okay, I'm making my case for the only Muppet I want to see on Broadway right now...

Tonight in Lincoln Heights at possibly the most unique venue in LA, Digital Debris. Can’t wait to see what the SOMA Ether / Strega picks up in the CRT gallery. I go on at 9pm.
New live show next month in a cozy venue. Happy to be spending some time back in Lincoln Heights.

Ah @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social, I hope you take a full month off and reconnect with Yurty Aherne and your meditation time.

SFV Blooping - this Thursday!
LA Synth Club will be at Lincoln Beer Co for the Patch and Play open mic night, on Thursday October 23.
We've had a low turn out for the last two of these, so I'm really hoping to see some new faces from the LA area and elsewhere!

Hard to imagine it’s been a whole year! Kudos to @herrmania.bsky.social for turning this monthly synth night into a vibrant scene. 30 min sets, a tasting course of modular to elektron and everything in between. Marc Laidlaw kicks it off at 7:30. (Old Town Pub in Pasadena, tonight).

Got to see both Autechre sets last night in LA. First one from up above and second set from the middle of the floor. Middle of the floor is definitely the way to do it. Set 2 was actually quite danceable especially as a friend put it, ‘if you can count to seven’.

Were there only a teleporter
I'm onto the second half of the tour now, 7 dates remaining from Bonnie Scotland to the Big Smoke. Quite a few have sold out, but there are still tickets available for Cambridge tomorrow, and Glasgow and Edinburgh next week.

Sounds like I’m nitpicking— and I’m not. These are amazing. Discovering that there was 400 episodes was just the thing I needed in deep dark 2025.
@blindboyboatclub.bsky.social

Deep in the back catalog of Blind Boy podcasts and wow- amazing to hear how much of the style was in place from the get go.
Currently on The Monsignor’s Beak (2017). Though I think Zoroastrianism is wildly considered Dualistic more than Monotheistic.
