The latest version of 매미들 (Memideul, Korean for Cicadas) is up and finalized. I have done my best to streamline the game, while still keeping the hooks. I am satisfied with where it is at the moment until I get more feedback. So if you wanna try a weird unorthodox trick taker, check out CICADAS!

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

I don't know how to introduce this one. After three titles about opium peddling, I figured the rest of SDHistCon would be breezy by comparison. I was wrong. The next day, I experienced one of the toughest board games I've ever played. Perhaps *the* toughest. spacebiff.com/2025/11/24/u...

It’s wild to me that some with such a respectable taste for good games would see mine fit to be their #4 of the year. I’m honored and dumbstruck.
Trawlerman's Top Ten New-to-Me Games of 2025. It's (almost) the End of the Year as We Know It... and I feel list(less).
One Year. Ten Games. Over the last half decade, I have trended towards simple games with simple components and simpler rules. This list reflects that trend. In the past few years, I've also tried to s...

Absolutely killer night of trains and tricks. All new to me, all great: Iberian Gauge, Numberwang, Chai Tea Jazz (don’t mind how horribly we performed in our first game of CTJ).

The Two Towers: Trick-Taking Game follows up on last year's Fellowship trick-taker, and like that inaugural release it's an innovative and excellent adaptation of Tolkien's fantasy novel. My review: spacebiff.com/2025/11/20/t...

I have often bemoaned the dryness of many modern games. Somebody on the web wrote "boardgames are just math made fun", and I answered that many boardgames are math made not fun. In such games, scores are no longer a reward for good play, but the entire games just consist of calculations. (1/X)

This is surreal because I’ve loved Joel’s videos ever since I first got into the hobby. Seeing that he really understood what the game was going for and had fun with it is just so cool.

1/3 Done! I submitted it to BGG a few minutes ago, but you can try Microfishing right now if you want with the rules and cards linked below. I have each card as a separate image if you want that, or I made a 6-up PNP file if that's your thing. Whichever!

Microfishing is a 2-player fishing game based on Escoba where you'll play cards from hand to capture fish from the Lake (the table). As long as the played card and the Lake card(s) add to 18, you'll capture them! Rules and a print-ready PDF are linked below.
