I don’t miss any of this.

Another T-day away & I’m not bombarded w/ commercialism, or told that watching football on T-day is what I’m supposed to do. Macy’s Day Parade. Day after shopping. Polished broadcasts telling us how awesome it all is.

You’re in a fever dream America. Wake the fuck up.
Baseball is a common backdrop for the Fourth of July festivities. The NBA is a staple on Christmas Day.

But the NFL on Thanksgiving reigns supreme.

Here are the most iconic Thanksgiving moments ⤵️

Reflecting on the value of gratitude, one of my favorites. I named this balloon “Infinitude”, a contraction of “Infinite Gratitude”. The pic shows the dedication expressing my gratitude to Benoit Mandelbrot, but really it’s to all the scientists and artists who help us see and understand the world.

Cheesecloth is not square. It’s a long rectangle.
My turkey is wrapped like wounded soldier.
Or a mummy.

I hate that negativity gets all the amplification by social media algorithms.

Let’s amplify LOVE instead.

I am beaming love at you. Right now.

Fuck the haters. I defy you. I am beaming extra love right into your face. Relax and be loved.

Just watched Cynthia Erivo (longtime fan 🥰) open the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Yearning for something traditional. I have declared today a no news day in my house. No politics.
No religion.

Peace!

Delightful story. Perfect for this week.
OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.

Maybe you should have them, what? Put to death?
Liar. Elon bought your election and manipulated the numbers. I’ll never not believe that.

this guy is bitching at rolling stone for an article where they highlight how an amazon data center is worsening water pollution in oregon. “director of EA DC” in bio, the EA is for Effective Altruism, the sham philosophy that tech bros use to avoid accountability. don’t trust this fuck, pass it on
You absolutely need to change this headline. It's unacceptable and disrespectful to the people harmed by the pollution.

This article itself makes it clear that the water pollution linked to cancer and miscarriages is coming entirely from nitrate pollution from farms.

Books for Gardeners
New this year: Nan Fischer’s monthly gardening guide, Growing a Sensational Garden in the Southern Rocky Mountains and Judith Taylor’s Women and Gardens. These titles take their place on the Gardening Books shelf with other “must-have” books.

On this day in 1883, Sojourner Truth died. Born into slavery in New York, she became a suffragist and abolitionist. Truth probably never used the refrain “Ain’t I a Woman,” but she did mock white men who opposed women’s rights. #WeTheMen

I think you are over egging Cheney's omelette. He was not, and never was, anything other than an early model oligarch.

Cheney was responsible for the Patriot Act.

That Act laid Trump's legislative red carpet to authoritarianism.
