People are far more likely to be radicalized by the voice chats you can have with real people in violent video games than the content of the game itself. In this case, the LLM is acting as both the content and the chat

I don’t know Lena, while the trajectories might look the same, I never had a violent video game respond to my dialogue with it in real time naturalistic language and under the cover of being a trustworthy tool of knowledge acquisition. It feels like the differences are significant enough

We’ve now seen Hayley, Paul, Why, and Jay make virtually the same post with a little rewording on how online communication is inherently flawed and that they’re going to fix it. This is starting to feel more like a PR stunt than anything else

We know that bluesky’s pitch was always that this was a proof of concept for their protocol, not intended to be a long term social media site on the level of twitter. I really do wonder if they’re intentionally antagonizing the user base to get negative reactions so they can sell a tech solution

It’s entirely possible that they’re all stuck in the reality altering bubble of big tech and that they’re simply incapable of seeing how their own posts garnered negative responses, or they’re deliberately saying shit to rile people up to try and make this point, perhaps to investors?

There have been a lot of posts about how the Bluesky team has no comms discipline, but I’ve seen multiple high level team members say something inflammatory recently and when they get deserved pushback on it, they reply with a musing that the fundamental nature of online communication is flawed

i think something that has become extremely clear is that the way we communicate with and about each other online has gone way off the deep end. the degree to which folks claim moral superiority yet talk about others with absolute disdain and disregard is not a good indicator of where we are going.
