This is why we are at WAR with the republicans: they believe their own bullshit, to the point of suicidal insanity.

Republicans get cancer too. Boycotting medical research signals they are beyond all reason. We must destroy them.
‘Tremendous uncertainty’ for cancer research as US officials target mRNA vaccines
Amid Trump cuts and state-level backlash, experts worry that progress in messenger RNA vaccines could stall

I'm not afraid. Come and get me, Donald.

I will stand up for the law and the Constitution. That’s what we do in the State of Illinois.

My VOTE was RECEIVED and COUNTED. YES ON PROP 50!

I've been observing the conversations between inpatients at a mental health ward. Their debates are hilarious: these folks are completely disconnected from reality, also they have no interest in listening to their interlocutor. It's hilarious because this changes nothing, compared to everyone else.

CHRIS CHRISTIE (a Republican): “This is no longer the Department of Justice. What it is now is a Capo regime who goes out and executes hits when directed by the Don to do so.”

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

Columbus genuinely was pretty bad by any standard. I mean, even the Queen of Spain concluded he'd gone way too far with the whole enslaving and raping and torturing and murdering thing, along with wiping out entire peoples. Surely no one would want a holiday named after the guy nowadays

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

When platforms are forced to block “anything that might harm kids,” the result is overreach. A real rights-respecting solution to keeping people safe online is one that's built on user control, privacy, and smart design, not censorship. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
Blocking Access to Harmful Content Will Not Protect Children Online,
The UK is having a moment. In late July, new rules took effect that require all online services available in the UK to assess whether they host content considered harmful to children, and if so,

actually, not sure I care enough about the *details* of why and how exactly a 15th century genocidal maniac was as bad as he was
sesquipedalias.bsky.social
huh, so he *was* punished for violence against other spaniards, not for violence against indigenous peoples

this is my surprised face
sesquipedalias.bsky.social
I have no idea about the historical details

was he *really* punished for excessive brutality?

or was that just some excuse used by his political opponents in order to usurp him?

just guessing here, but the world usually works according to option 2

Pretty sure I say this every Columbus Day, but getting hauled back to Spain for excessive brutality in 1500, just as the Inquisition was really getting fired up, is some genuinely Evil Guys Hall of Infamy material

a general strike would be awesome if it were a long-term strike, not just a day

this can only happen if social solidarity is organised in advance: anybody who can afford to must ensure, in advance, that those who can't normally afford to lose their income will be able to get by during the strike

Got booted from Facebook for the 11th time, if I have the count correct? Fairly sure.

There are butt loads of GOPig swamp kkkritters on Facebook. I use locker room talk. Deplorable. Horrible. Disgusting.

My parents didn't raise me to treat humans that way. I'm a hood product. I make them gasp
