I've been observing the conversations between inpatients at a mental health ward. Their debates are hilarious: these folks are completely disconnected from reality, also they have no interest in listening to their interlocutor. It's hilarious because this changes nothing, compared to everyone else.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

Columbus genuinely was pretty bad by any standard. I mean, even the Queen of Spain concluded he'd gone way too far with the whole enslaving and raping and torturing and murdering thing, along with wiping out entire peoples. Surely no one would want a holiday named after the guy nowadays

this can only happen if social solidarity is organised in advance: anybody who can afford to must ensure, in advance, that those who can't normally afford to lose their income will be able to get by during the strike
