The “democratic socialist” countries with a thoughtful social safety net and high taxes are more democratic than we are.
This is the nexus of “socialism,” free enterprise and “not authoritarian” that I was told is impossible growing up.

Shouldn't this be like a IDK, national scandal kind of thing? We forced a president to resign for much less than this, or am I just old? We need to examine how we got here from the press corps of the 1970's, when Robert Redford made a hit movie about courageous journalists. IDK, we've lost the plot.
