My latest oddly-shaped thought: The Continuum.

A working theory of circulation — how wealth, power, ideas, and neglect move through systems rather than vanish.

If scarcity is redirected abundance, who does the economy really serve?

Greece is launching a digital property registry where ownership, rent, and tenancy agreements are visible and updated live. Tenants can see if the declared details match what they signed up for.

Radical thinking. Come on Ireland — EU tech hub and all — catch up.

Brussels is starting to treat housing as a democratic risk.

EU-wide building standards could enable cross-border construction.

Will Ireland lean in — or dig in?

The EU found X (Twitter) in breach of its rules.

Musk responded by cutting the EU’s ads account and refusing fines.

He also called for the dissolution of the EU.

Europe needs an open standard channel for official news — not platforms owned abroad or prone to tantrums. A governance risk.

I like this idea.

Treat social media for under-18s like old TV rules: no algorithms, no ads, nothing pushed for profit.

They can follow people.
They can read.
But their attention isn’t a marketplace.

Let “social” mean social.

Opinion: Banning under-16s from social media is a half-measure. We should ban toxic algorithms
Australia is trying to ban teens from social media, but that only scratches the surface as a solution to the problems tech companies are causing us, writes Killian Mangan.

The government has slid current and next generations into managed scarcity for life.

High rents.
Renting into old age.
Multi-generational homes.
Smaller footprints doing more work.

They’re not idiots.
They’re just solving the problem from the wrong side.

Ireland's true housing disaster emerges - renting into old age
The pension system works on the assumption that people have little ongoing housing costs by the time they retire. If that no longer holds true, it’s a major worry.

Putin sits in Moscow claiming that his armies have taken a town that the Ukrainian president is personally visiting. There are cowardly tyrants and there are courageous elected leaders and it is good to know the difference.
Putin said Russia had taken Kupiansk weeks ago.

Today, Zelenskyy visited Ukrainian troops there.

What a rabbit hole I’ve been down today.

24 EU official languages.
Zero EU translation layer.

We mandate multilingualism, enforce GDPR, fund digital projects — yet outsource translation of our own voices to US and Chinese platforms.

That’s governance failure, not a technical one.

Thinking of buying Assassin’s Creed Shadows on The Nintendo Switch? Wait.

Right now the Switch version is basically unplayable – crashes every 5–10 minutes and performance is rough.

If you’ve already bought it for kids for Christmas, brace yourself.

In two of the shows I’ve loved this year, Severance S2 and Pluribus, one thing stands out: slowed-down communication.

Severance’s camcorder scene. Pluribus with the camcorder and the billboard.

People taking time to communicate.

And slowness has its own kind of emotional voltage.

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.
